Soraya Seedat

Prof. Soraya Seedat is a Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and the Executive Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Stellenbosch University. She held the South African Research Chair in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder for 15 years and currently directs the South African Medical Research Council Unit on the Genomics of Brain Disorders. With over 20 years of clinical, epidemiological, and neuroscience research experience, Prof. Seedat is a leading expert in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety disorders, particularly among adolescents and adults. She has published extensively, co-edited multiple books, and served in various leadership roles, including as President of the College of Psychiatrists of South Africa
