Rosemary Gathara

Rosemary is the Executive Director of BasicNeeds BasicRights in Kenya, an NGO that has been actively involved in community- and education-based mental health initiatives since 2005. Rosemary is a health and development professional with extensive experience in the non-government sector, leading national campaigns on policy development and implementation, social marketing (motivating low-income and high-risk communities to adopt healthy behaviour, products and services) and project cycle management. She has participated in Malaria, HIV, WASH and NCD health campaigns at community and policy levels. Before her current role, Rosemary led the Kenya Association for People with Epilepsy. Rosemary is a graduate Nutritionist. She contributed to The Handbook of Social Work and Social Development in Africa and is an Epilepsy Foundation Shark Tank winner.
